Our Building Extension:
Preparing for Future Growth

As our church family continues to grow, and we’re excited to take the next step in creating more space for conection, worship, and ministry.

This building extension is not just about more seats - it’s about making room for people, community, and the work God is doing among us.

So Why are we Extending?

The 80% Rule: Why It Matters

Church growth consultants often refer to the “80% rule.” When a congregation consistently reaches around 80% of its seating capacity, it feels “full.” Visitors may unconsciously sense there isn’t room for them, which can cause growth to plateau.

  • Psychological ceiling: Even if seats are technically available, people avoid squeezing into the last few. It creates a sense of overcrowding.

  • Hospitality factor: Visitors are more likely to return if they can easily find a comfortable seat.

  • Momentum killer: Once growth slows, it’s much harder to regain it. Planning ahead allows growth to continue naturally.

Why Not Add a Second Service?

While adding a second service might seem easier or less costly, our experience tells a different story.

  • During COVID, when we trialled two services, many felt it divided the church family.

  • Running two services would also stretch our volunteer base beyond its limits.

That’s why extending the building is the best long-term solution - to sustain unity, hospitality, and growth for years to come.

Extension Timeline

Here’s the planned timeline for the extension project:

Please be aware that this may be subject to change based on external pressures but church leadership will communicate this with the congregation if that is true.

  • June 2026 – Earthworks begin

  • By 1 August 2026 – Foundation slab poured

  • Mid–late 2026 – Building structure started and closed in (weather-tight)

  • By mid-2027 – Internal fit-out completed

  • Future stage – Gymnasium addition (date still to be confirmed)

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
